The Ultimate Picture Palace is Oxford’s oldest and only independent cinema. The cinema is privately owned and owner managed. We show a mix of recent releases from around the world, classic seasons and a programme of exciting one-off events. Our beautiful art-deco auditorium has 105 seats and the small bar at the back serves drinks and snacks for you to take to your seats before the start of the film. We don’t show adverts – just one or two trailers for upcoming films – which means the feature starts promptly at the advertised time. Apart from three full-time members of staff, and a couple of part-timers, we run entirely on volunteers. They help us run the bar, sell tickets in the box office and steward for the busier films.
