Agnès Films

Agnès films: supporting women and feminist filmmakers is named in honor of Agnès Varda, the French filmmaker who has been making women-centered fiction films and documentaries for over 50 years. Varda, in spite of the high quality of her work, remains an obscure figure to mainstream audiences around the world. In an effort to provide support to emerging and established women and feminist filmmakers, agnès films fosters a diverse community of women and feminist filmmakers, scholars, instructors, and film lovers.

We want to shed light on the work of talented and committed women and feminist filmmakers working today, who, like Varda, don’t have the visibility they merit. We accomplish this through film reviews, interviews with women filmmakers, filmmaking narratives, filmmaking advice, news items, original video, monthly Twitter Chats with women filmmakers, and public screenings of women’s films. Our editorial staff is made out of Michigan State University faculty and students.
